For the past year, Walgreens has negotiated with Express Scripts to continue to be the pharmacy’s provider network but the negotiations were unsuccessful and on December 31^st, 2011, the contract expired. As of January 1, 2012, Walgreens is no longer part of the Express Scripts network. All Walgreens pharmacies nationwide and Duane Reade pharmacies in the New York City area are no longer included in the Express Scripts pharmacy network. Express Scripts acts as a middleman between pharmacies providing health care service and employers and their health plans who pay for medications.

Hosting my first ever New Year's Eve party

This is the first year that I've had my very own apartment and I'm really loving the benefits of not having roommates. There are so many things to love about it, including not having to worry about asking others when and where you can have visitors over. That was always a problem with former roommates of mine. To go along with that, I'm having fun by throwing a big New Year's Eve bash this year.

It wasn't that long ago that I signed my lease, so this will be the first time that most of my friends will see my place. I was looking online to get some tips about fun party ideas and while I was doing that I saw info on Miracle Ear. I've been telling my parents for years that they could use some hearing aids, so I forwarded that info along ot them and I think that they're actually going to go in for hearing tests!

I have most of teh stuff for my New Year's Eve party, except for the food that I'm going to serve there. It's still too early to buy that stuff. But at least I have the recipes for them.

I need a new pair of prescription eyeglasses. Yesterday my hubby and I were talking about eyeglasses and he told me that it’s definitely time for me to upgrade my glasses. We live in a rural area. We don't have close neighbors and that's why it is a good place for camping. Our closest neighbor has his lot sets up for camping. He only comes on holidays and special occasions like fishing season opener, deer hunting season, labor day, the 4th of July and so on. He has Picnic Tables, trailer homes and other outdoor furniture that he makes good use of when he has large groups of his friends and relatives visiting. He also has Park Benches.

Even though my hubby and I already have a few outdoor furnishings, it would still be nice to have some more so that we can entertain large groups of family and friends. We have an outdoor table and chairs that we use mostly during the spring and summer seasons to sit out in the sun. Typhoon Hit Southern Mindanao

I was very worried when I found out that a typhoon was going to hit the Mindanao island. My family lives on that island and I know first hand how devastating typhoons can be. I grew up there and have been through a lot of scary times when typhoons would hit our village.

Typhoon Sendong was a category 2 in my province. It hit the southern Philippines on Friday night while most of the victims were asleep. The worst of the devastation and death came from the raging floodwater that resulted from the heavy rain in the mountainous areas around Cagayan. The typhoon left nearly 1000 people dead and there are nearly 1000 still missing. I feel sorry for all the victims. Most of the fatalities are from Cagayan de Oro and Iligan cities which were the most severely hit by the flash floods.

I like shopping but I am a thrifty shopper. I always look for good deals for things that I need and want to buy. I look for great deals both online and on-site stores because I want to save money in any way I possibly can. Now that the holiday season is just a few days away, most of us are probably done shopping already for presents. In my case, I decided to give cash to my family and relatives. My hubby already bought my presents a few weeks ago. I am not planning on shopping for more because the new washer, fridge and laptop are actually too much already, especially in these tough economic times. Back to shopping, my sister in-law has been very busy lately shopping. I don’t know if she’s already done but I guess not because when my hubby called her yesterday she was busy, they had just a short conversation which is unusual. They usually talk for hours on the phone.

I am so pleased that now I can get my cable, phone and internet all in one place. I moved recently and just wanted everything to be as painless as possible. Going to have to make a special trip to Chicago

I had forgotten all about renewing my passport when my hubby started thinking about vacationing in the Philippines again next year. After my trip to the Philippines last spring, he told me that it would probably be five years before I could visit my family again. When I got back home, I did not think about renewing my passport because I didn’t have plans to go out of the country again. To make a long story short, we are going to have to make a special trip to Chicago one of these days. When I renewed my passport five years ago, I did not have to go all the way down there. I just sent the application in the mail. For some reason, they now require personal appearances, which I think is absurd. It is such a costly and time consuming hassle for us to say the least.

We wanted to go to Chicago a few weeks ago but things kept coming up that have caused us to be delayed. Fortunately, there’s only one form to be filled out and I have already got that done. I also have all of the documents that are required gathered and ready to go. Now all I need are the money order and a prepaid self-addressed envelope.

When we bought this place we knew there would be a lot of work but I just don’t think my husband was prepared for it. I love him to death but he’s pretty naïve when it comes to stuff like that so I think he imagined it would take a weekend or two to fix what we’re still working on six months in. This place was more or less in need of a total makeover and from paint to tile to direct tv, that’s what we’ve done to it. It’s going to be a great house when we’re finished but we’re just a long way away from that and I know it’s going to take time and money. I guess I’m just a little more practical than my husband when it comes to stuff like this and knew what we were in for – I would have warned him if I had any idea how unrealistic the expectations in his head were! I love him to death but sometimes he’s just not that logical.

One of the holiday traditions we have in the Philippines during Christmas is to gather together with family and friends to celebrate the holiday. For the last five years, I have not been able to be a part of it because I am now living half way around the world. The Christmas celebration here is very different than it is over there. It is merrier there and you can really feel the spirit of Christmas. That is why this time of the year is very difficult for me. The cold weather is one thing that bothers me but the main thing is that I miss my family back in the Philippines so much. My emotions are different from other seasons.

In the Philippines, when the "ber" month sets in, we start hanging out our Christmas decorations and putting up the tree. I can now imagine what my folks' house looks like and what will be happening at the celebration of my family in the Philippines this festive season. I freaked out this morning when I checked my three blogs and found out that I had lost four posts including the two paid ones that I just posted last night. The last few weeks, I have been backing up my blog files because of some server problems. I contacted my web hosting provider to see if she could still recover the posts but unfortunately she could not. My web hosting provider is my friend and she has been having problems with her server these past few days. The company transferred her to a different server because of a high CPU usage thing.

It was not me alone who had this kind of problem. Most of the blogs that she hosted including hers have missing post problems as well. I ended up writing the paid posts again and got the problems solved. I feel sorry for my friend because I know this causes her more headaches, especially after she just got out of the hospital with her second baby. She has two small kids to take care of and a few days ago, she told me that the kids were sick and so was her husband. I just hope that her problems get resolved soon.

I can't believe what my hubby has just told me last night. He said that we won't be going fishing anytime soon and that he is fished out ;-). I seldom hear from my hubby saying such things. Right after I got back from my vacation in the Philippines, I have been trying hard to lose all of the weight that I have gained over the winter season and during my vacation. It is very difficult but I am doing my very best to get my body back in shape. I don’t like to look at myself in the mirror with a bulging belly hanging over my pants. I have been thinking about taking up nursing. My hubby has been having a lot of medical problems recently and he tells me that I am now his nurse. He says he is giving me on the job training. I am serious about taking up nursing in the not too distant future. Several of my friends are in nursing and they say it is a really good profession.

Each time my hubby and I go in for his medical appointments, I take special notice of all of the doctors and nurses attires. I went with my hubby and brother in-law to the boat landing to put his boat in the water. I did not expect that there would already be food and beverage vendors set up and ready to go for the festival this weekend. Yes, it is the Blueberry festival in Lake George. I told my hubby that I liked it when there are always festivals in town because I get to see a lot of people. My hubby said that it is OK with him to be around a lot of people once in a while but not everyday because he wants to have some privacy.

We live in a quite neighborhood and that is why I am happy to see a lot of people around once in a while. I am used to being around a lot of people where I come from in the Philippines. It seemed like there was a party going all of the time. Neighbors were in and out of our house most of the time.

When I went there for vacation this last time, I missed the privacy that I have here in the US. There the noise from the neighbors would wake me up in the morning. It was very annoying because I am not used to that kind of living anymore.

Are you an original thinker? Always coming up with cute or funny sayings or jokes? If so, you are probably popular at parties and family get togethers but that does not pay the bills. Wouldn't it be nice though, if your sense of humor and original wit could somehow pay off?

My hubby is an original thinker and inventor but the stuff that he has come up with is usually complicated and it requires big investments up front to both patent and get his ideas off the ground. Consequently, he is still struggling to get funding for a couple of his projects.

He has often thought that if he could just come up with something simple that could be copyrighted, he might be able to fund his own projects. Something like the smiley face or a cute saying that could be copyrighted and then put on things like custom t-shirts or stickers.

Copyrights are really cheap and easy compared to patents and marketing something like that on the internet would be really easy. My favorite saying is "life is hard" but something that would catch on would probably need to be more up beat. We are still thinking about it. Got any suggestions?

Fishing Outing

I am looking forward to our next fishing outing. Our last fishing excursion was disappointing. A cold front came through the day before we went out last time and gave the fish lock-jaw. After that it usually takes a few days of nice warm weather to get them hungry again. That is the forecast over the next few days so, hopefully, by early next week we should be able to go back out and catch more good fish.

It was the walleyes that were really biting well a week and a half ago so we are hoping to get a few more of them. I want to catch some crappies as well but they have not moved into the weed beds yet. Last night my hubby cooked the last batch of crappies from last year with butter and onions on top. That was really tasty. I still have one fillet left over and I am going to finish it up today.

I woke up early this morning and noticed that it was raining heavily outside. I was about to get up but decided to stay in bed until the rain stopped. I like to lay in bed and listen to the rain. I have never been on a cruise ship before. It sounds like a great vacation idea to me. My hubby's sister and brother in-law went on a cruise out of Seattle that went up the scenic west coast of Canada all the way up to Alaska. They said they had a great time and would like to take another cruise sometime.

My hubby and I have thought about it but our trips usually involve a visit back home to my home country of the Philippines or South America for business. Maybe one of these days, we can take a cruise instead. Chomping at the Bit

My hubby is chomping at the bit to go fishing. Today, I thought that we would be able to go out in the lake for the first time this season but again something came up. The starting motor battery is not taking a good charge. My hubby is not sure if he will have to replace it or not. It is currently charging but we are not sure if it is going to take enough charge to consistently start the motor. If it doesn't then we will have to go to town to buy a new battery. It seems like the deep cycle marine batteries go bad quickly. We have been having to replace about one a year lately. They don't seem to make good, long lasting deep cycle marine batteries the way they used to.

He got me very anxious to go fishing. I had already prepared everything, the food and what-not. I am sure his niece and nephew feel the same way as well. To make a long story short, we will not go fishing today but hopefully tomorrow we will get an early start.

The job market can be really tough these days, especially if you don't have the right education or experience to match the few job openings that are currently available. There do seem to be a few areas that are still hiring.

I have a degree in civil engineering but have never really been able to get a job in that field since I left the Philippines. I have been thinking about taking some courses in nursing because I have heard that is an area where a lot of hiring is currently taking place.

There does seem to be some job openings in engineering but those are mostly entry level electrical engineering jobs and manufacturing jobs. GM, the big auto maker has made a great come back from their problems a couple years ago and are now advertising job openings in those areas. Maybe if I had taken more electrical engineering courses when I was in school I would qualify for one of those.

My hubby has been thinking about doing his own custom spa design. Because of his recent problem with back pain, he has been thinking about designing and building his own hot tub and or spa. His problem with conventional hot tub designs mainly has to do with the fact that he is well over 6 feet tall and he wants to be able to completely reclined and relax while in the hot tub. Slept Late

My hubby and I slept late today. We woke up around eleven o'clock in the morning. We slept for about twelve hours. For some reason, my body is still feeling tired despite getting so much sleep.
